Volunteer Opportunities at Period
Volunteer Positions at national headquarters in Portland: These positions are for at least three months and have responsibility for important aspects of our programs. A small stipend is offered to help offset expenses. We have 5-6 of these positions available during the school year, with the expectation of 10 hours per week on average, and five hours spent in the office. In the summer we have 7-9 positions available, with the expectation of 25-40 hours a week spent in the office.
Positions: Web Design, Chapter Coordination, Service & Operations, Policy, Marketing and Social Media, Development, Grant Research and Writing, Graphic Design, and Administration
Start a chapter! The best way to support Period is to start a chapter. Our chapters do an amazing job at distributing Period Packs to people in need, holding educational workshops such as Period Talk (formerly Ask Me About Periods) and Cup & Cloth, and advocating for policy change, such as Period products in their schools.
Current Volunteer Position Openings:
Web designer with HTML and CSS experience.
Grant researcher with a proven track record
Drivers in the Portland area.
We are currently accepting applications for spring and summer positions. We will start filling summer positions at the end of March and will continue accepting applications until all positions are filled.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org for information.
Volunteer projects: These projects are smaller in scope, have a lower level of responsibility, and can sometimes be performed remotely. No stipend is available. They might be in areas similar to the volunteer positions, but could also involve writing, research, analysis, email, photography, videography, database and/or data analysis, events, donor relations, newsletters, writing for The Rag (on Medium), or Education.
Examples: research summaries done on menstrual related policy and “scorecards” created to summarize status in all states. Investigation of non-profits for policy partnerships. Software options to help with chapter data and communications and educational content delivery. Answering email.
Be a Driver: We deliver Period Packs to over 100 non-profit partners serving people in need. Help us connect with our partners!
Off-site Federal Work Study: Some colleges offer FWS for students to work at off-campus community organizations. Please inquire at your campus career office or financial aid office.
Paid positions: We have a very small paid staff and don’t have paid positions available at the moment.
